Programs

Programs include time for group ceremonyBC Wilderness Visions Programs and Workshops

BC Wilderness Visions offers programs in the Vancouver area and in the wilderness near the Missezula Lake campground, between Merritt and Princeton, BC. Programs at both locations allow intimate contact with nature to help participants deepen into their own true nature.

To foster connection with the earth, most programs are conducted entirely outdoors, with participants camping and sleeping on the earth. Day programs are also outdoors.

Programs combine ancient and contemporary methods for opening our awareness of interconnectedness with the earth and with each other.

To hear a 30-minute radio interview about the vision fast and the teaching of the four directions, see Vancouver’s Co-op Radio (CFRO 102.7 FM) web site. The interview was for a radio show called Conscious Living. Listen to the interview to find out more about this thing called a vision fast.

We are happy to create a program to meet the needs of your group. Please contact us to discuss your group’s needs, interests, and goals.

Yoga & Nature: The Four Directions

Medicine Walk by the Seymour River2013 dates TBD

Location: Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve, North Vancouver

This summer morning excursion in North Vancouver will teach you a nature psychology and yoga poses for working with nature to access your own inner guidance and the guidance that nature can bring. We will explore the qualities embodied by the four directions through yoga poses that connect these elemental energies with your own physicality. This program is suited to all yoga experience levels. There is a 20-minute walk on a fairly steep path to get to the place by the river where we’ll have an opportunity to deepen into the connection to self and to the natural world. More…

BC Wilderness Visions is planning now for a 2013 vision fast retreat in the wilderness near Missezula Lake, in a private area that’s close to a campground. I discovered it on my first medicine walk, and it is a very special place. Let us know if you are interested.

The vision fast is a cross-cultural ceremony that brings guidance and healing through solo time in wild nature. This journey can be seen as having two functions: a rite of passage to mark an important transition in your life; and a rite of renewal to renew or strengthen your connection to yourself, to the earth, and to the sacred dimension in your life.

The vision fast can be used for inquiry and celebration of life at any time of change. For example, in today’s business world a person might fast to address the challenges related to career change, whether through choice or job loss. How do we take care of our physical needs and financial responsibilities, while expressing ourselves through work that brings us joy? How do we balance finding a place in our culture with finding our own unique path? How do we earn a living that is in alignment with our deepest values? How do we shapeshift our skills and experience to create a new green economy? More…
